Real-time Seabed to Space Connectivity
The Wave Glider’s distinctive design supports multi-month communications between surface and subsea systems, enabling regular data pulls from underwater assets and timely transmission for faster, more informed decision-making. Deployed individually or as a fleet, Wave Gliders’ Communications Gateway capability provides scalable, mission-ready support for offshore energy operations.
Communication Gaps
in Subsea Environments
The short range of underwater acoustics prevents direct remote data transmission, making autonomous surface platforms necessary to collect and relay information.
Full Awareness, Above and Below the Surface
Deploy Wave Gliders as mobile communication hubs to collect data and retrieve information from subsea assets. Remote Operations Centers or nearby vessels can connect via satellite, Line-of-Sight (LOS), cellular, and WiFi.
Leverage Wave Gliders to continuously and autonomously harvest acoustic subsea data on an accelerated schedule, providing timely insights for surveys and asset management.
Enhance situational awareness of your assets with Wave Gliders visual and acoustic sensing capability—shared with your Operation Center in real-time.
Use a distributed network of bottom-mounted nodes and a Wave Glider equipped with high-precision GPS to monitor seabed displacement.
PMT Offloads
in the Gulf of Mexico
Wave Gliders supported Shell at the Mars and Perdido fields in the Gulf of Mexico to provide efficient and cost-effective data offloads from more than 50 Pressure Monitoring Transponders (PMT). Utilizing USVs allows for routine data retrievals with low effort.
Equipped with GNSS antennas, Wave Gliders also provided high-precision GPS-Acoustic localization measurements for newly deployed seabed sensors. Measuring the pressure under the seabed allows for a better understanding of how the seabed is moving.
Durable Platform for Extended Missions
Keep Wave Gliders deployed for months of uninterrupted Gateway Communications. Ruggedized for extreme conditions, Wave Gliders operate reliably in high sea states and through hurricanes and typhoons without jeopardizing the safety of personnel.
Easy Handling
At 10–18 feet, Wave Gliders’ compact form factor enables launch and recovery from small vessels and simple shore handling without special tooling.
Flexible Acquisition Options
